In The News ... White Hawk Country Club, Crown Point, Indiana, a MichianaGolf.com 4-Star Certified Course
White Hawk Country Club, just an hour southeast of downtown Chicago in Crown Point Indiana, is a very special 36-Hole course with many resort-like amenities. As you drive through the impressive residential area that winds throughout White Hawk's four individual 9-Hole courses, you will soon realize that you have entered an upscale golf destination.
Opened in 1998, the White Hawk Country Club is a links style golf property, masterfully designed by Nugent Golf, Inc., that features many strategically placed bunkers and plenty of water.
Of the four individual 9-Hole courses, the "Grey Hawk" and "Black Hawk" courses were built first to create a complete 18-Hole round. These courses were soon followed by the "Red Hawk" and most recently, the "Silver Hawk". According to Golf Pro Steve Smead "The most challenging and unique of the four, with many tree lined fairways, is the Silver Hawk. The trees along with the extra length of the course, as you'll find on # 8 -- a Par-5, 667-yard hole with water on both sides; and you'll quickly understand why Silver Hawk is the most challenging course."
When asked about their signature hole, Smead quickly responds, "That's easy, Black Hawk's # 6 -- a Par-3, 150-yard hole with our famous island green." A hole truly designed for target shooting. Pay attention to the drop area left of the hole before deciding to take another shot at the green from the tee box.
It is this well balanced mix of holes that will make for a very enjoyable round. In fact, each 9-Hole course includes two Par-3's, five Par-4's, and two Par-5's. If playing from the tips, make sure to "bring it" with your driver as the yardage for the four 9's are as follows: Grey Hawk -- 3,535, Black Hawk -- 3,489, Red Hawk -- 3,515 and Silver Hawk -- 3,461.
White Hawk has well-groomed fairways & greens, the latest golf carts with GPS, asphalt paths, chipping and putting areas, rental clubs, on course drinks/snacks and a fully-stocked Pro Shop.
After your round, visit the Ironwood Steakhouse Restaurant for a truly wonderful meal. The restaurant uses only Angus Premium Gold cuts which are then cooked to perfection using the same type of ovens as Chicago's top steakhouses. Even if you're not a golfer, you will appreciate this fine dining experience available to you in the clubhouse.
White Hawk also has its own bus available for groups interested in transportation service to and from local hotels -- a service rarely found in the Michiana area.

Crown Point is a city and the county seat of Lake County.
On October 31, 1834, Solon Robinson and his family become the first settlers to an area that later became Crown Point. Because of its location, Crown Point is known as the Hub of Lake County.
Because Crown Point had no waiting period for marriage licenses, the city became a popular place to get married and became known as the "Marriage Mill." Many famous people came to Crown Point to be wed including Tom Mix, Rudolph Valentino, Cassius Clay, Jackson 5 patriarch Joseph Jackson and Ronald Reagan.
