Centreville is a village and the county seat of St. Joseph County.
Verne Troyer, most well known for his accomplishments as an actor, playing "Mini-Me" in the Austin Powers movies, grew up and attended high school in Centreville. Matt Thornton, a Major League Baseball pitcher, also grew up and attended high school in Centreville.
Centreville was formerly the home of the Dr. Denton Sleeping Garment Mills, where the well-known Dr. Denton's brand of blanket sleepers was manufactured.
Centreville is the proud home of the Langley covered bridge.
