 | In The News ... Berrien Hills Golf Club, a MichianaGolf.com 4-Star Certified Course
The Berrien Hills Golf Club (formerly Berrien Hills Country Club) in Benton Harbor, Michigan, runs along the beautiful St. Joseph River and has been a favorite championship course for serious and recreational golfers since 1909. Originally, 1909 through 1923, Berrien Hills was approximately five miles further up the St. Joseph River than its current location, which opened in 1924.
This 18-hole, Par-71, 6,219-yard course features a placement golf course feel with a traditional, tight layout. Its fairways are lined with towering Oaks and the unforgiving traps that make playing a round at Berrien Hills Golf Club an experience well worth having.
What is their Signature Hole? "Berrien Hills really has three of them," replied General Manager Dave Vonk, "# 3 is difficult and scenic, # 11 is one of my favorites with the Clubhouse overlooking from high atop the hill, and of course, # 17 is a challenging Par-5 that runs along the river."
Their challenging and well-manicured course is in excellent condition, enhanced with a newly updated drainage system.
When asked what separates Berrien Hills Golf Club from the rest, Vonk confidently states, "The best features of the course are the playing conditions, thanks to the best Grounds Superintendent in the area, Greg Ellis." Tom Hevel, the resident Teaching Professional, rounds out a phenomenal golf staff trifecta.
The course is GPS marked with on-course drinks/snacks and restrooms, a fresh fleet of carts, pull carts, clubs available to rent, practice putting and chipping green, driving range (No Charge!), locker rooms and showers. This golfing destination is the full package.
Berrien Hills Golf Club offers a beautiful clubhouse, recently redecorated, with a well-stocked bar that was newly remodeled. Full service catering is also available for weddings and other events with a friendly staff that is ready to assist your every need.
Other Berrien Hills Golf Club amenities include a fantastic Pro Shop and beautiful glassed-in deck, just to name a few.
Berrien Hills Golf Club is minutes from the quaint downtowns of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor and only 90 minutes from downtown Chicago.
